Dec 26, SOURCE: Lower Control Arm Bushing replacement. Hi, I just did this job on my 98 regal, and I own the service manuals also. The lower control arm bushing that usually goes, is the front one. The rear one doesn't usually go, it is horizontally mounted.
The front one for some reason is vertical.
Sounded pretty simple when you said it.
The control arm must be removed, and put in a vise. LOWER CONTROL ARM REMOVAL 1) Raise and support vehicle. 3) Remove the steering knuckle. Remove the bolts fastening the power steering cooler to the front suspension cradle crossmember reinforcement (Fig. 21). 5) Remove the lower control arm rear bushing retainer bolts located on each side of each lower control arm rear bushing. Nov 17, 1. Chose one arm, upper or lower, and remove the nuts off of the control arm bolts. 2. Once the nuts are off of the control arm mounting bolts, grab the tire and roll it forwards or backwards a bit to take tension off of the bolts themselves and the bolts will slide right out.
