Autumn is a nominal term for a season in which (as you suggest) leaves tend to fall off trees because it’s the season prior to winter, and that’s what (many) plants do. It’s worth noting that in the southern hemisphere, autunm occurs in the months that would be spring in the northern hemisphere.
I took some photos today of our tree and the leaves but could not figure out how to attach them to my posting so I thought I would add a more detailed verbal description.
Mar 18, Why are the leaves falling off the trees already? Trees will often set more leaves in the spring than they can support during the summer. Heat and drought stress will cause the tree to lose leaves that it cannot support with the available soil moisture. Certain trees such as hackberry can drop all of the leaves and enter summer dormancy.
Aug 23, If the leaves and twigs are not protected from the air and sun during transport, this can cause the leaves to dry and fall off. It is important to keep the roots moist and to the extent possible to protect the leaves from the high velocity, drying air during transport. However, there are other factors that could be involved. In spring and summer, leaves convert sunlight into energy in a process we all know as photosynthesis.
During that process, the trees lose a lot of water – so much water that when winter arrives, the trees are no longer able to get enough water to replace it.
Sep 10, First, when you have an overgrowth of tree leaves, your tree grows too many leaves to support. In order to support as many leaves as possible, your tree will begin shedding some of the excess leaves early in the season, which is why you notice your tree losing leaves in the bushleaning.barted Reading Time: 6 mins. The short answer is that leaves fall stump pasture mulcher site tractorbynet.com trees when they aren't doing their job any more.
A leaf's job is to turn sunlight into food for the tree. To do this, the leaf needs water. The tree doesn't want to waste all the good things in the leaf, so it takes the nutrients from the leaf back into the stems and roots. The simple answer is this: Leaves fall off trees so that the trees can survive the winter. But the word “fall” is a bit misleading. It implies that the trees are passive this time of year, when, in fact, they are actively “pushing” the leaves off their branches.
